About the journal
Overview
Oxton Sleep Research (OSR) is an open-access, peer-reviewed scientific journal published by Oxton Education (Brazil) and dedicated to sleep research. The journal publishes original research, reviews and case reports in sleep medicine, chronobiology and the relationships between sleep and health, with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and translational research — research that brings scientific evidence closer to clinical practice and health policy.
OSR is a sister journal of the Oxton Science Journal. All manuscripts undergo double-anonymous peer review and a transparent editorial workflow, from submission to publication. Published articles receive persistent identifiers and indexing metadata and are freely available, with no access barriers, under a Creative Commons license. OSR publishes in English and charges no fees to authors or readers.
Focus and scope
OSR welcomes contributions that advance scientific knowledge about sleep and have applications in health promotion, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. Areas of interest include:
- sleep medicine, sleep physiology and neurobiology;
- chronobiology, circadian rhythms and shift work;
- insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, hypersomnias, parasomnias and sleep-related movement disorders;
- sleep and pain, mental health, metabolism, cardiovascular health and functioning;
- sleep across the lifespan — childhood, adolescence, adulthood and aging — and in specific populations;
- polysomnography, actigraphy, wearable technologies and other sleep assessment methods;
- assessment instruments and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs);
- pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments, including cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), physical therapy and rehabilitation;
- sleep epidemiology, public health and sleep health education.
We welcome clinical, observational, methodological and validation studies, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, as well as case reports with a relevant clinical contribution. Manuscripts outside this scope may be declined at editorial screening without being sent for peer review.
Article types
- Original articles — previously unpublished research findings, including clinical, observational and experimental studies and instrument validation studies.
- Systematic reviews and meta-analyses — evidence syntheses based on an explicit, reproducible protocol.
- Review articles — narrative or integrative reviews on relevant topics within the scope.
- Case reports — clinical cases that make an original contribution to practice.
- Letters to the editor — brief comments on published articles or topics of interest.
- Editorials — texts by the editorial team or invited authors.

Open access
OSR provides immediate, free open access to all of its content, based on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. History
Oxton Sleep Research is published by Oxton Education (Brazil), which also publishes its sister journal, the Oxton Science Journal. OSR was created to provide an international, English-language, diamond open-access venue for sleep research.
